Economics is all about understanding how economies function, both on a large (national and international) and small (individual and business) scale.
Economics is concerned with understanding the workings of a modern economy from both a Macro and Micro level. The course looks at how we get our incomes, how we use them, the supply of resources and the production and exchange of goods and services.

The Exam
The final NSC Economics exam consists of two written papers, both of which are two hours in length and worth 150 marks.
- Paper 1 examines the following topics: circular flow, business cycles, public sector, foreign exchange markets, protectionism and free trade, growth and development, industrial development policies, and economic and social performance indicators.
- Paper 2 examines the following topics: perfect markets, imperfect markets, market failures, inflation, tourism, and environmental sustainability.

With your matric certificate, you can choose from these courses at a tertiary institution: Data analyst, Accountant, Banker, Financial planner, Financial Consultant, and Economist.
